Primary Distribution Planner

Position/Title: Primary Distribution Planner       
Reports To: Planning Manager        
Function: Support        
Area: Johannesburg

Overall Responsibility:  
Plans Transportation of goods out of the breweries to multiple destinations in the operational horizon, being able to flexibly manage customer requirements        

Main responsibilities    

  • Compiles and communicates a Primary distribution load plan for the operational horizon, next 4 weeks        
  • Maintains master data in planning software        
  • Supports the business with tactical and strategic budgets pertaining to transport requirements         
  • Liaises with commercial, internal Logistics, 3PL and customers to support Finished Goods transport to depots and direct shipments to customers.         
  • Collaborates with logistics to optimize loads to minimize costs 
  • Works closely with the Supply planner to compile inventory policies at Depots and customers where applicable        
  • Monitor and reports KPIs such as Load plan delivery adherence one week out and transport cost adherence.        
  • Engages in the Supply Review on any tactical distribution risks.                  

 

Requirements of the Role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain management, Business Administration, statistics or a related field        
  • Experience in working with carries or logistics is a plus                  

Preferred Skills/Competencies

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in data analysis and statistical forecasting techniques        
  • Knowledge of transportation planning and optimization concepts.        
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with internal teams, customers, and carriers.        
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage complex data. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or other data analysis tools.        
  • Ability to adapt to changing demands, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.        
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize and meet deadlines.        
  • Ability to adapt to change and handle multiple priorities.        
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
